His offer sheet shows how contested this recruitment was. He held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Clemson and Oklahoma. That is a run of SEC rivals and national powers, and Florida beat all of them.

A relationship built up front

The bond Bailey developed with offensive line coach Phil Trautwein was a major reason the Gators won him. That is a familiar pattern. The 2027 class is also strong. As of early July, it ranked seventh nationally in the 247Sports Composite with 26 commitments, 17 of them blue-chip recruits. That was the state of the class at that point, and the rankings will change as the cycle continues.

The Gators are also looking further ahead. Their recruiting has reached into the 2029 class, including Carrollwood Day cornerback James Allen.

Recruiting momentum is fragile. Commitments are not signatures, and the current wave depends partly on Florida continuing to win on Saturdays.
