South Carolina Women’s Basketball 2026-27 Schedule: Dawn Staley’s Team Faces a Loaded Road Ahead

South Carolina women’s basketball now knows exactly what its 2026-27 regular season will look like, and Dawn Staley’s team will have little room for a slow start.

The Gamecocks released their complete schedule Friday, revealing a nonconference slate packed with nationally significant opponents before SEC play begins on New Year’s Eve.

The primary long-tail SEO keyword for this story is South Carolina women’s basketball 2026-27 schedule.

South Carolina will begin with an exhibition against College of Charleston on Sept. 27 before opening the regular season internationally against Maryland in Paris on Nov. 2.

The Gamecocks then move through a demanding stretch that includes North Carolina, Clemson, Southern California, UConn and Duke before the calendar turns to December.

Paris starts a demanding nonconference schedule

The regular season begins in France as South Carolina takes on Maryland in the Oui Play event.

That gives the Gamecocks an unusual opening to the season, with their first official game coming outside the United States.

Four days later, South Carolina faces North Carolina in Charlotte as part of the Ally Tipoff.

The schedule then brings one of the Gamecocks’ most familiar opponents into focus.

South Carolina travels to Clemson on Nov. 12 before returning to the state for a matchup against Southern California in Greenville on Nov. 15.

The Gamecocks finally reach Colonial Life Arena for their first regular-season home game on Nov. 17 against Florida Gulf Coast.

That means South Carolina will play four regular-season games before appearing in front of its home crowd in Columbia.

UConn, Duke and Oklahoma State add more tests

The difficulty level does not drop after the first few weeks.

South Carolina travels to Providence on Nov. 21 before facing UConn on Nov. 24 in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The Huskies provide another major measuring stick for Staley’s roster.

South Carolina then returns home for the PowHer Player Classic during Thanksgiving weekend.

Tennessee State is scheduled for Nov. 28, followed by either NC Central or Alabama A&M on Nov. 29.

The nonconference schedule also includes a road game at Duke on Dec. 3 as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge.

Oklahoma State, Wofford, Albany and Gardner-Webb round out additional games before the Gamecocks enter the final stages of the nonconference schedule.

South Carolina will also compete in the Players Era Championship in Las Vegas on Dec. 19 and 20, although the opponents have not yet been determined.

The sequence is important because South Carolina will be tested in different environments almost immediately.

Neutral-site games, a rivalry road game and nationally prominent opponents should force Staley to evaluate her rotations and lineup combinations early.

The PowHer Player Classic gives South Carolina a home showcase

Thanksgiving weekend will bring a multi-team event to Colonial Life Arena.

South Carolina will face Tennessee State on Nov. 28 and then meet either NC Central or Alabama A&M the following day.

The event also gives the Gamecocks another opportunity to establish their identity at home after beginning the regular season with a long stretch away from Columbia.

For a roster featuring new pieces, those early home games could become particularly valuable for developing continuity.

SEC play begins against Alabama

The conference portion of the schedule starts Dec. 31 when Alabama visits Colonial Life Arena.

South Carolina will have seven SEC home games during the regular season.

Those opponents are Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU and Texas A&M.

The Gamecocks’ seven conference road trips will take them to Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Texas.

The inclusion of Texas is particularly notable because it gives South Carolina another difficult road environment during SEC play.

Oklahoma creates a January-February storyline

South Carolina’s SEC home-and-home opponent is Oklahoma.

The Sooners visit Columbia on Jan. 14 before South Carolina travels to Norman on Feb. 8.

That creates one of the more interesting scheduling sequences of the conference season.

South Carolina will have several weeks between the two meetings to adjust based on what happens in the first matchup.

The SEC stretch also includes road games at Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Georgia.

At home, the Gamecocks will face Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Texas A&M, LSU and Auburn in addition to Alabama and Oklahoma.

The final month could determine South Carolina’s postseason position

The schedule becomes particularly compressed in February.

South Carolina travels to Vanderbilt on Feb. 4 and Oklahoma on Feb. 8 before returning home to face Texas A&M on Feb. 11.

The Gamecocks then visit Ole Miss on Feb. 14 and host LSU on Feb. 21.

Auburn comes to Columbia on Feb. 25 before the regular season closes at Georgia on Feb. 28.

That closing stretch puts a premium on consistency.

By February, SEC opponents will have extensive film on South Carolina, making adjustments, player development and rotation stability increasingly important.

The bigger question will be how Staley manages the workload while keeping the team prepared for the postseason.

What stands out most about the schedule?

The biggest takeaway is the sheer variety of challenges packed into the opening months.

South Carolina will travel internationally, play neutral-site games against major programs, compete in a Thanksgiving tournament, face Duke on the road and then navigate an SEC schedule featuring Texas and Tennessee road trips.

That gives Staley plenty of opportunities to discover what her team can do before the postseason arrives.

The most important part may not be any single game.

It will be how quickly South Carolina develops cohesion through one of the more demanding schedules on its calendar.

For fans looking ahead, the dates are finally set, and the South Carolina women’s basketball 2026-27 schedule leaves very little doubt that the Gamecocks will be tested early and often.
