
ATLANTA — The South Carolina women’s basketball team will have one more opportunity to work out the kinks before the 2025-26 season kicks off officially.
On October 30th at 6 p.m. Eastern Time, the Gamecocks will face off against North Carolina in an exhibition matchup at State Farm Arena. The contest is part of a double-feature event, followed by a men’s game featuring Auburn versus Memphis.
Fans won’t be able to watch the exhibition on television or through online streaming platforms, but South Carolina has announced that live audio coverage will be accessible.
Head coach Dawn Staley holds a 5-4 record against the Tar Heels, who received the No. 11 ranking in the USA TODAY preseason coaches poll. The Gamecocks are positioned at No. 2.
South Carolina held its initial exhibition against Division II opponent Anderson on October 24th, dominating with a 112-31 victory. The team’s season opener is scheduled for November 3rd at 7 p.m. Eastern Time when they host Grand Canyon at Colonial Life Arena.

The answer is no—the Gamecocks’ second exhibition won’t have TV coverage. The matchup is part of The Bad Boy Mowers Series and is the first of two games on the schedule.
While October 30th marks the first exhibition between these two Carolina programs, they’ve faced each other 22 times previously. The all-time series stands even at 11-11, though South Carolina has claimed the last four victories.
During the 2023-24 campaign, the teams met on two occasions—once at Chapel Hill and again during the NCAA Tournament’s second round. South Carolina prevailed 65-58 and then 88-41, concluding that season with a perfect 38-0 record and the program’s third national title.
