Man, you blink and South Carolina women’s basketball season tickets are gone—again. For the second year running, they sold out the whole stash before most people even figured out what month it was. The Colonial Life Arena is about to be absolutely buzzing, and I’m here for it.
Let’s talk fan insanity for a sec. Gamecocks fans? Unhinged (in the best way). They just had a monster season, and their crowd shows up like it’s a Taylor Swift concert night after night. Season tickets? Poof, vanished. If you’re hoping for a seat, you’re stuck waiting for single-game tickets, which drop the week of October 6. Better have your browser ready and your coffee strong.
Last season they averaged 16,437 fans a game. That’s not a typo. They broke their own attendance record, and those games were LOUD. Seven sellouts too—basically doubled what they did the year before. Nobody else is doing it like this. Eleven straight years of leading the country in women’s hoops attendance? That’s wild, basically matching Tennessee’s old streak from the Pat Summitt era. Now they’re gunning for the Lady Vols’ single-season record of 16,565 from way back in 1999. (That’s right, Y2K-era numbers.)
Honestly, they almost broke it last year. Came so close, but then a couple of early NCAA tourney games had “only” 11,683 and 12,322. Apparently, that’s a dip for them. Still, South Carolina owns the top three spots for all-time total attendance: 279,423 (2025), 273,133 (2024), and 244,196 (2016). Just ridiculous numbers.
Oh, and get this: even their “small” home crowd last December was over 15,000. Against Charleston Southern! Some schools wish they could get that for a rivalry game, and here it’s just a random Tuesday. Colonial Life Arena is basically a concert venue disguised as a basketball gym at this point. The place shakes. Chants, roars, that whole “postseason game in December” vibe.
So what’s next? The Gamecocks hit the court for an exhibition against Anderson on October 24, then the season opener against Grand Canyon on November 3. Three straight home games to kick things off, and you know those stands are gonna be packed. The record is just sitting there, begging to be broken.
Honestly, with the way these fans show up, South Carolina women’s basketball might just change the whole game for NCAA attendance. This isn’t just a team; it’s a movement. If they keep this up, everyone else is just playing for second place.
