Manchester United have received the ‘green light’ to secure the signature of Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to various reports.
Last summer, Manchester United were in the market for new strikers to replace the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. Head coach Erik ten Hag initially targeted Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur, but the England captain ultimately joined Bayern Munich.
With the pursuit of Kane falling through, United shifted their focus to Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, securing the young forward for an initial fee of around £64 million. Hojlund, despite his potential, had to shoulder much of the attacking responsibility during his debut season. The 21-year-old impressed, particularly around the New Year, ending the 2023/24 campaign with 16 goals in 43 appearances
However, to bolster their attacking options and provide competition for Hojlund, United are expected to sign another striker this summer. The new signing is likely to replace Anthony Martial, whose contract expires later this month.
Reports indicate that Manchester United have set their sights on 27-year-old Moroccan international Youssef En-Nesyri. The Sevilla star had an outstanding 2023/24 season, netting 20 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions. His performances have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, with United now leading the race for his signature.
En-Nesyri, whose contract with Sevilla runs until 2025, is seen as a viable, low-cost option for Manchester United. Reports from Spain confirm that the Red Devils are preparing to present an offer in the range of €15-20 million for the striker in the coming days.
Italian journalist Rudy Galetti corroborated these reports, tweeting: “#ManUTD are ready to send an offer to #Sevilla for Youssef #EnNesiry. The proposal will be around €15/20m. The striker already gave his approval to the possible transfer.”
En-Nesyri’s potential move to Old Trafford could provide the attacking depth Manchester United needs, allowing Erik ten Hag to rotate his squad more effectively. This strategic signing would not only strengthen their squad depth but also add a proven goal-scorer to their ranks.
