Man Utd Set to Spend £85m on Two Star Signings After Manuel Ugarte Deal Update

As the summer transfer window inches closer to its conclusion, Manchester United could be poised to complete two significant signings, including the highly anticipated arrival of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Red Devils’ pursuit of Ugarte has gained momentum, largely due to recent developments involving Fulham’s rekindled interest in Scott McTominay.

According to reports from Sky Sports, Fulham had previously stepped back from negotiations after two bids for McTominay, the latest reaching up to £20 million, were turned down by United. However, Fulham is now reportedly preparing an improved third offer, reigniting discussions with United and potentially paving the way for McTominay’s departure.

Fulham’s renewed pursuit of McTominay could be a crucial factor in United’s transfer plans. The potential sale of the 27-year-old midfielder would free up valuable funds that could be redirected toward securing Ugarte’s signature. PSG, who acquired Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon for £51 million just last summer, is keen on recouping their investment, but United is expected to negotiate a lower fee.

The prospect of bringing Ugarte to Old Trafford is particularly appealing to United manager Erik ten Hag, who has been working to strengthen his squad this summer. INEOS, United’s new majority stakeholder, has already sanctioned the sales of five senior players, generating £60 million through the departures of Alvaro Fernandez, Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala, Mason Greenwood, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Despite these sales, United has also made significant investments in new talent, adding Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui to their ranks for a combined total of £155 million. However, the need to further bolster the squad remains, particularly in the defensive midfield position.

With McTominay potentially on his way out, United’s midfield options could be left thin, especially in the double pivot role alongside Casemiro. While Kobbie Mainoo, Christian Eriksen, and Toby Collyer can fill in, Ten Hag is eager to add more depth and quality to his midfield.

The funds from McTominay’s sale could not only facilitate the Ugarte deal but also support additional acquisitions. United has been linked with Fenerbahce’s versatile left-back Ferdi Kadioglu, who could provide much-needed cover in defense. Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly leading the race for Kadioglu, having already submitted a £30 million bid, but United’s interest remains strong, especially with injuries sidelining both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

In United’s recent 1-0 victory against Fulham, Diogo Dalot was deployed at left-back, highlighting the club’s need for reinforcements in that position. The arrival of Mazraoui from Bayern Munich has bolstered the right side of defense, but Ten Hag is keen to ensure depth and versatility across the backline.

With just 12 days remaining in the transfer window, United’s focus is clear. The potential exits of McTominay and other fringe players could create the financial flexibility needed to secure Ugarte and Kadioglu, strengthening the squad ahead of a challenging season.

As United fans eagerly await the next chapter in the club’s transfer saga, the prospect of landing Ugarte and Kadioglu before the window closes offers hope of a strengthened and competitive squad, ready to challenge for honors on all fronts.
