So, South Carolina’s women’s hoops are gonna be all over your TV next season—like, you literally can’t avoid them. ESPN’s rolling out the red carpet, putting 19 of their games on national networks, which, by the way, is more than any other SEC team gets. You’ve got ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network… basically, if you own a remote, you’ll find them somewhere.
Here’s the quick TV rundown:
– Two games on ABC (circle Feb. 8 for Tennessee, Feb. 14 for LSU—yeah, that’s Valentine’s Day, forget dinner plans).
– Eight on the ESPN family, three of those are non-conference, which is kinda wild.
– Nine on SEC Network, which, let’s be honest, is basically Gamecock TV at this point.
– They’ll even pop up twice on TNT during the Players Era Championship in late November, plus a FOX cameo for “The Real SC” showdown with Southern Cal on Nov. 15.
– Not every game hits traditional TV, so SEC Network+ will handle the leftovers, like those random road games at Arkansas or Kentucky. Gotta stream sometimes, right?
Non-conference? Whew. It’s stacked.
– They start at home with Grand Canyon (Nov. 3) and Bowling Green (Nov. 7), then Clemson rolls in for the in-state grudge match (Nov. 11—that one’s always spicy).
– That Southern Cal game in L.A. (Nov. 15) is gonna be a vibe.
– Players Era Championship happens Nov. 26–27 (catch it on TNT).
– Louisville away on Dec. 4 (that ACC/SEC Challenge is never boring), NC Central rolls in on Dec. 7, Penn State on Dec. 14.
– Finish the year with road trips to USF (Dec. 18) and FGCU (Dec. 20), then wrap up non-con with Providence (Dec. 28) and Coppin State (Jan. 18).
Oh, and seven of these teams danced in last year’s NCAA tourney, so, yeah—no cupcake schedule here.
SEC play tips off New Year’s Day at home vs. Alabama. From there, it’s a gauntlet:
– Florida (away, Jan. 4), Arkansas (away, Jan. 8), Georgia (Jan. 11), Texas (Jan. 15—new SEC face, kinda weird seeing them in the mix).
– Oklahoma (away, Jan. 22), Vandy (Jan. 25), Auburn (away, Jan. 29), Texas A&M (away, Feb. 2), Mississippi State (Feb. 5).
– Tennessee (Feb. 8, that’s gonna be a circus), LSU (away, Feb. 14—like I said, good luck juggling Valentine’s Day plans).
– Alabama again (away, Feb. 19), Ole Miss (Feb. 22), Mizzou (Feb. 26), wrap it at Kentucky (March 1).
I mean, that’s a schedule. No nights off.
Tournament time? Greenville, S.C. is hosting the SEC tourney March 4–8. SEC Network’s got the early rounds, ESPN/SEC Network split the quarters, ESPN2 for the semis, and the big one—the championship—airs on ESPN. So, yeah, unless you live under a rock, you’re not missing much.
Honestly, if you’re a Gamecocks fan, invest in a new couch. You’re gonna be planted in front of the TV all winter.
