European Titans Choose Sancho Over Greenwood: A Surprising Move

Juventus Favored to Sign Jadon Sancho, Dropping Interest in Mason Greenwood

Juventus are emerging as the front-runners to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, surpassing Borussia Dortmund in the race. According to Football Insider, the Italian giants are reconsidering their interest in Mason Greenwood to focus on securing Sancho instead.

Juventus’ Right Winger Search

The Bianconeri are actively seeking a new right winger this summer, as they have put Federico Chiesa up for sale and are contemplating the departure of Matias Soule. Despite initial interest in Greenwood, multiple Italian sources report that Manchester United’s asking price of over €50 million is deemed excessive by Juventus.

Sancho: A More Affordable Option

Due to United’s steep valuation of Greenwood, Juventus are now exploring the possibility of acquiring Jadon Sancho. Sancho has become available after falling out with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. Juventus possess greater financial strength than Borussia Dortmund, who are also interested in a permanent deal for the English winger.

Sancho’s Stint at Borussia Dortmund

Sancho rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan in January, returning to the club he left in 2021. At Dortmund, he rediscovered his form, a stark contrast to his performances at Old Trafford. His standout moment came during Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over PSG in the Champions League semi-final first leg, which played a crucial role in their journey to the final, where they were ultimately defeated 2-0 by Real Madrid at Wembley.

Dortmund have expressed their desire to re-sign Sancho permanently, a sentiment shared by the player. However, the challenges of Sancho’s substantial salary and United’s high transfer fee demands complicate the deal.

Juventus’ Financial Edge

This financial edge places Juventus in a favorable position to sign Sancho, as per Football Insider. Sancho’s initial move to Manchester United from Dortmund in 2021 was for €85 million, but his time at Old Trafford has been underwhelming. He managed only 12 goals in 82 appearances and frequently found himself on the bench.

Falling Out with Erik ten Hag

Earlier in the previous season, Sancho was frozen out of the Manchester United squad following public criticism from Erik ten Hag regarding his training performances. The situation escalated when Sancho retaliated on social media, accusing his manager of dishonesty. Subsequently, Sancho was excluded from first-team training, banned from using club facilities, and removed from the team’s WhatsApp group by Ten Hag.

Transfer and Loan to Dortmund

As a result, Manchester United transfer-listed Sancho and eventually loaned him back to Dortmund in January. With Juventus now showing strong interest, the landscape of Sancho’s future appears set for another significant shift.
