Aaron Glenn’s Training Camp Statement Puts Aaron Rodgers and Jets on Notice Following Steve Wilks Appointment

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is sending a clear message to his players, including veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers – training camp will be anything but easy. Glenn emphasized the importance of “mental toughness” and getting his team “calloused” to withstand the challenges of the upcoming season.

“Mental toughness is being calloused, because adversity is going to hit. During training camp, my job is to make our players as calloused as possible,” Glenn said. “Meaning that once we get in the season, we’re going to go through so much during training camp, & by the time you get to the season, the hard stuff, you’re going to be calloused to be able to go through that.”

The 41-year-old Rodgers, who missed the entire 2023 season due to an Achilles injury and was limited by various ailments in 2024, will be a key focus for Glenn. The new Jets coach acknowledged the need to be mindful of Rodgers’ age and injury history, but made it clear that he won’t be easing up on the team during the grueling preseason preparations.

Glenn’s tough approach is a stark contrast to the previous regime led by Robert Saleh, whose departure after just five games in 2024 left the team in disarray. The new coach is determined to instill a winning mentality and reshape the Jets’ culture through his hands-on, demanding style.

To bolster his coaching staff, Glenn has brought in experienced defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, who has a proven track record of transforming defenses. Wilks’ expertise is expected to complement Glenn’s vision and help the Jets become a more formidable team on both sides of the ball.

As the Jets embark on a new era, the question remains whether Glenn’s “tough love” approach can propel the team to success or if Rodgers’ age and injury concerns will ultimately prove to be their downfall. Fans will be eagerly watching to see how the team responds to the new coach’s high-intensity training camp and whether it translates into wins on the field.
